Construction Types

Cabinets can be constructed in three different types - Flush Overlay, Reveal Overlay, and Exposed Face Frame. The types differ in the way the cabinet doors and drawers meet the cabinet carcase, or frame.

Flush Overlay

Minimal lines. Doors and drawer faces conceal the cabinet carcase. Typically, 1/8" or 3/16" separates adjacent drawer and door faces. Adjustable european hinges are used.

Reveal Overlay

Similar to Flush Overlay but drawer and door faces are spaced to reveal the cabinet carcase behind. Reveals are typically 1/2" to 5/8" wide. Adjustable european hinges are used.

Face Frame

Traditional cabinet frame. Doors and drawer faces are inset into an exposed cabinet frame. Traditional hinges are typically used with this type of cabinet.
